Design
The reverse of the coin shows an extraordinary depiction of the Phoenix, a mythological creature associated with fire, glowing with fiery colors in the night. It has a gaze that expresses ferocity and determination and a symmetrical pose that seems to turn to attack. The bright hues create an effective and striking visual contrast. On the obverse, the first volcano erupts to reinforce the idea of great fire energy, from which the Phoenix is born. From the other volcanos, other magical creatures will come to life! On the obverse of the coin also the Coat of Arms of Palau and the inscriptions: “REPUBLIC OF PALAU” – the issuing country, “10$” – the face value and “MAGICAL CREATURES AT NIGHT” – the name of the series.
